In which the Olive Ridley Turtles get better names...

Louise, an Olive Ridley turtle, tries to eat my fingers.
A faboo surprise! I got a birthday card from the aquarium (about a month before my birthday) and various people had signed it. It's the cutest card in the world, so I just had to scan the front of it and put it up. I was surprised to get the card, but there was even more to come! In the card, Mark wrote a nice (if somewhat difficult to read ;) note and said I could name the Ridleys! =D (See bottom of the page for proof! Mwah!)

The turtles were originally shipped with the names Bad and Worse, but they obviously deserved something better. For the past couple of weeks, there was a lot of deliberation as to what to call them. Vern and Bertha (inside joke) was a thought, but this wasn't really feasible as both Ridleys are females anyway.

But today was the grand day that....

The cutest fishies ever! The actual card is larger than this though.
I got to name the Ridley turtles!! Mark says it's on a week trial, but so far everyone likes the name. So what did I name them? Well, Lucy and Ethel ran through my head as did Laverne and Shirley. Those names were rejected, but I finally named them....

::cue drumroll::

THELMA AND LOUISE!!

Bad is now known as Thelma and Worse is now known as Louise. =) I was in the food room when I came up with this and told Mark. He said he kinda liked it. There was a trainer and two marine mammal volunteers (Hugh and Robin) in there along with the bird lady (Karen) and they all thought they were faboo names. =)

So I wrote it down on all the logs and everything and life is happy!!

See? =D
