In which a girl gets mushy krill in her hair...

I went to feed one tank that the kids always get a kick seeing me feed. I had some small krill (like really really tiny shrimp) that had been thawing for quite a while, making it somewhat watery. Anyhow, it looked more like bright pink sludge than anything else. So I was feeding this tank. This girl darted under my hand to get a better look. Some of the glop slipped out of my hand - and right into her hair. I looked down and kinda "Hmmmed" and "uh-ohed." She felt the stuff hit her head and reached back. I ended up picking it out of her hair. It was nasty. Poor thing.

I then went to feed the big big big tank called Amber Forest. After I was done, I came out to look through the underwater window to see if the sharks were grabbing the mussels off the bottom. (It's a nifty window. You can actually walk into the tank and be surrounded by water.) Some lady looked at me and said "Ew, you stink." Well, it wasn't me, it was the food dishes I was holding, but I left anyhow.

Fed the turtles. Yay! Then I had to go in the tank with the sting rays and stuff and shuffle my feet around to get the algae off the sand. I was in my waders and shuffling around (hard work!).

Some little girl said "Whatcha doin?"

I said I was cleaning the sand.

She paused and then asked "Why are you wearing the boots?"

I told her because I didn't want to get wet and they kept me dry.

Then she asked, "So why are you wearing a shirt?"

I ummed and told her that it's nice to wear a shirt. As this conversation was quickly growing weird, I then quickly shuffled to the other side of the pool.

Mark wasn't very impressed with my turtle scar. He said I should have picked at it more. I told him it didn't really scab so I had a hard time doing that. Oh well.
